- RESEARCH YEAR 2018 - 2021
Through the Early Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Prevention in Cameroon Schools WDF 16/1434 project, funded by the World Diabetes Foundation, RSD Institute engaged in 2018 in health promotion, more specifically nutrition education among adolescents.
Obesity and a diet low in fruits and vegetables are among the main risk factors for non-communicable diseases on one hand. On the other hand, adolescence is the phase of development of an individual during which lifestyle habits that will later influence the health and well-being of the future adult are established. Research has shown that the earlier healthy behaviors are learned, the more likely the adolescent is to maintain them as an adult. The goal of this project is to design and implement a nutrition education program in secondary schools to promote healthy eating among adolescents.
